nooooooothing to wear

I hate being home because I can't cart my whole wardrobe with me. I'm one of those people who never knows what I'll feel like wearing. Being home limits my choices. Right now I'm in a striped shirt and horribly old sweater. Not feeling to confident. I'll have to rummage through my closet and find something else before I hit the town.

Never can I leave a Barnes & Nobel bookstore without picking up a copy of Britain's "Glamour" magazine. Its one of the only fashion publications that I truly read from front to back and over and over again. Some of my favorite magazines like "Nylon" and "Vogue" I tend to skip through the text and straight for the pics and fashion spreads. Never the less I purchased my copy of "Glamour" and after 3 hours, I am done reading it. I found it inspiring and informational as usual. Here are two things that I loved.
1. That my leopard trend prediction was spot on.

2. I'm in desperate need of new nail polish. Not that it lasts long on my fingers. (I have a huge problem with chewing and peeling off my polish.) Its and addiction that's hard to break. I must hit up a Sephora and purchase something new and lovely soon. I'm enamored by the 2009 Chanel Mint Green Color.


3. I'm getting tired of the same ole'skinny jean routine. It seems that all I live in are jeans. I need to go try on different types of bottoms so I can get over my fear. I love the new trouser trends but I'm wary if their meant for curvy figures or just those stick thin models. I'll have to scout out new stores which carter to fuller sizes, I don't think Urban Outfitters is going to cut it anymore for me.

This past weekend I went shopping with the lovely Nina. She tried on this amazing leopard print coat. Despite its heafty price tag I think she should have bought it. The coat (scene in the upper left of the spread) is surprisingly from JCpenny. The store is certainly "stepping up it's style". With brands like Oxford and Charlotte Rosum. JCpenny is defiantly on my main stop shop list. Going home this weekend I'm going to have to dig my own leopard print jacket out of my closet. Eddie Sedgwick style is classic and always chic. Mixing shades of black, leggings, big accessories and prints pay homage to the queen of the underground.

Vintage charm, baby blues, and a personality all her own. Her movie (500) Days of Summer has been an unexpected indie hit. Some say its gaining ranks into Juno status as it is being re-released into major theaters.

Ms. Taylor Momsen

I'm probably the only fashion lover who hasn't seen an episode of "Gossip Girl". I came across this young starlet while flipping through Nylon. I'm in love with her Blondie style shag cut and her bleach blonde hair. This girl loves rocking the leather and a motorcycle jacket, and she wears them well.

Ms. Jenny Lewis

I think I'm impartial to big blunt bangs ever since I had mine cut. Jenny is my idol. I love her 70's style, her western influences, and her amazing voice. I need to dust off my fedora and invest in some high waste jeans.

Broadway Baby

Regina Spektor recently announced that she is officially writing the score and lyrics for the new adaptation of the one-act play "Beauty" for Broadway! As a long time fan of Spektor I am extremely excited. Spektor is known for her hauntingly beautiful, upbeat sound and her unique lyrics. The musical "Beauty" tells a story of a girls struggle to find her inner and outter beauty and takes cue from the Grimm Brothers story of "sleeping beauty." I can't wait to hear the soundtrack and hopefully see the show as it debuts on Broadway!

ODU spirit

I hate wearing t-shirts. I think they're a vain on society. Okay... maybe they're not that serious. But I think they should only be worn if one must (required for work or a club), or if one is catching some z's (sleeping). Don't get me wrong I love a good t-shirt and jeans day. Just let that tee be light cotton and have a v-neck. In my loathing for t-shirt overloaded campuses nationwide I have begun my efforts to det-shirtanize the nation by focusing on my beloved Old Dominion University. Here's some inspiration for other spirit worthy frocks to rock on spirit Fridays at good 'ole ODU.

“The best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. You have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So, I think this is the best costume for today. I have to think these things up, you know..."

HBO recently made the 1960s documentary "Grey Gardens" into a TV movie starring Drew Barrymore.
Both the original and the new version are awe inspiring.
Both Edie and her mother have great style.
