spring aspirations.

I'm going to Florida for spring break. So even though we're in the midst of the biggest snow storm Norfolk has ever seen, I've got the sun and ocean on my mind.

A big trend to look for this fall is details! Designers are putting small twists on classic pieces, from bows, etchings to lace. They're adding little touches that make your favorite pieces, just that more special. Also, be on the look out for neutral tones (a trend I've been watching for some time now).

Suede and knit dress from MB beach Couture

thirfting adventures

Coolest thing I found thrifting today. Brooch from Fossil brand clothing for only $10. The insect jewelry trend is starting to heat up. There's a feature about dsqaured beetle brooches in Elle mag.
I found it at this awesome boutique in Norfolk called Abigail Rose. (http://www.abigailroseva.com/) It's a boutique that sells new and vintage clothing. I bought a sweater and shirt as well, but the brooch is just to sweet not to show off.

I'm ready to do some serious sewing. I finally got a dress form (my size) and I bought a new sewing machine. My old machine commited suicide by tragically jumping off my desk.

It seems like today is the first day the sun has been out in over a month. My friends and I are heading to the zoo this afternoon. The beautiful sun and light breeze has got me thinking about the spring. I got my Anthropologie catalog in the mail yesterday, and the beautiful vacationesque pictures have really inspired me. I think this spring will be all about vintage tropic looks. The full 50's skirt, mixed with vintage floral and bold stripes.
I love the look of embellishments and excessive beading. (A Moroccan feel)
My favorite colors are coral and teal, so I'm really excited to see that these two colors are going to be popular for the spring and summer. Mixed with neutrals like tan and brown they create a vintage feel.

I found this gorgeous bracelet at a newly opened consignment store on Mechanicsville turnpike. The store itself wasn't very impressive, but its stock of hand made jewelry was to die for. I'm a sucker for cameo pendants and they had several styles to choose from. I might be back for another bracelet if my NYC trip doesn't supply something as appealing.

NYC bound

Headed to New York City in just a few days, admittedly I'm not as excited as I should be. Usually I get really amped up about going on trips, but lately all I've had on my mind has been money. Even though I have a good backing in my bank account, I still am nervous about spending to much. However, I'm sure when i meet up with my friends January 1st I'll get pumped up. I'm heading to NYC with my good friends Nina, Phil, and Danielle. Even though I'm weary of spending, I know once I get in town I won't be able to resist shopping. Below are some of the things I'll be on the lookout for this time around in the CD.
